Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has urged fishermen in the district not to panic following government’s decision to extend the Fishing Ban.

Mr. Kanyama has told QTV News that he has today met with Fisheries and Livestock Minister Kampamba Mulenga who has assured him that a solution to this challenge will be found.

He says it is important that in the meantime fishermen in the district comply with the extended fish ban.

Mr. Kanyama says the extended fish ban is not intended to punish the fishermen, but aimed at controlling and curbing the outbreak of cholera in the country.

The Siavonga District Commissioner is however, disappointed that some politicians in the district are trying to incite the fishermen to rise against the government over this temporal fish ban.
