Govt should tax Jerabos at ‘Black Mountain’ – TIZ

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) says government should also tax small scale miners also known as Jerabos who have been given 10 percent ownership of the mine dump site known as the black mountain in Kitwe.

TIZ Executive Director Wesley Chibamba says the small scale miners should be taxed just like any other mining company.

He has however, questioned government’s decision to give the small scale miners 10 percent ownership of the black mountain while giving a Chinese mining company 90 percent ownership.

Mr Chibamba is of the view that there could be some illegalities in the entire deal.
