UPND Women oppose the proposed NHB

chishala kabasoUnited party for national development (UPND) Lusaka Province Chairlady Chishala Kabaso has condemned the proposed national health insurance bill, saying the bill should not be passed because it is not favoring the poor.

Mrs. Kabaso says many Zambians are leaving in abject poverty and that they are paying for a lot of taxes so the national health insurance bill is not necessary at the moment.

She has expressed concern that government wants Zambian citizens to pay another financial contribution for them to receive medical services from public health centers, in addition to taxes they already pay.

Mrs. Kabaso has urged the minister of health to withdraw it from parliament as it does not mean well for the Zambians especially people living in rural areas.

Meanwhile Mrs. Kabaso has also condemned government’s decision to allow landlords and tenants in Zambia, who are not registered and are not paying withholding tax (WHT) on rental income, to get registered for tax purposes.

Ms. Kabaso says many people do not have money to start paying for all the taxes, thus urging government through Zambia revenue authority to revisit this decision.

And UPND National Youth Secretary Trevor Mwiinde has refuted the statement Rainbow Party Leader Winter Kabimba that the UPND abandoned their Chilanga Member Of Parliament Keith Mukata in his time of need.

Mr. Mwiinde says the UPND party knows how the legal system operates in the country and will not be dragged to comment on the matter which is still in court saying they know that Mr. Mukata has appealed against his sentence.
