Zitukule Consortium has called for the quick enactment of the Access to Information Bill.

Executive Director Nicholas Phiri is concerned that government has taken too much time to have the Bill enacted.

He says the absence of the Access to Information law has created a huge vacuum between the decision makers in government and the citizens.

Mr Phiri is saddened that public perceptions about governance, government officials and decision making are churned from the rumor mill rather than from credible statutory sources.

He laments that several new Bills have come and seen the light of day while the ATI Bill continues to gather dust.

Mr. Phiri has since advised government to look beyond their skepticism and view the ATI as a law which is in interest of both the state and the citizens.
