The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) maintains that it has opposed the National Health Insurance Bill because Zambian workers and employers are over taxed.

The federation has also threatened to take legal action against the government through the Ministry of Health if they fail to listen to the concerns from various stakeholders.

ZFE Executive Director Harrington Chibanda has told QTV News that the federation also stands with the stance that has been taken by the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions.

Mr. Chibanda says it is unfair on the part of the government to burden the employers and workers with high taxes in the country.

He says it is prudent that the government withdraws this bill because if it becomes law it will be challenging for companies, corporate entities and workers to comply with that law.

Mr. Chibanda states that it is also unfortunate that the government did not engage the private sector over this bill as opposed to claims by the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary.
