K64 million used in cholera fight

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says government disbursed over K64 million to fight the cholera epidemic which broke out in October year.

Dr Chilufya says the K64 million so far used to fight the cholera outbreak which has so far claimed 85 lives countrywide was drawn from the treasury.

Dr Chilufya said this in Parliament in response to a question by Ikeleng’i Member of Parliament Elijah Muchima who wanted to know how much money came from cooperating partners as well as from the treasury to fight the cholera epidemic.

He explains that while a lot of cooperating partners donated assorted materials to fight the epidemic, government released K64 Million towards the response.

And Dr Chilufya told the house that the cholera outbreak is abetting and that the nation is at the verge of containing the epidemic.
