ECZ has breached constitution – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the Electoral Commission of Zambia is in breach of the Constitution by failing to conduct pending local government by-elections countrywide within the stipulated 90 days.

NDC Spokesperson Eric Chanda says his party is disappointed that the Electoral Commission of Zambia is failing to execute its constitutional mandate by failing to hold by-elections in selected wards countrywide.

Mr. Chanda has since challenged the ECZ to tell the nation what has necessitated and caused this delay.

He has further called on the government to provide adequate funding to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to enable the Commission conduct pending local government by-elections.
