Cancer diseases hospital employees nabbed for cancer drugs pilferage

Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged tPolice Hatwo UTH cancer diseases hospital employees for pilferage of drugs worth over K19, 000.

According to a close source who sought anonymity, the suspects were arrested when they went to sell the medicine to the supplier who apparently supplied the same drugs to medical stores limited.

And Lusaka division police commissioner Nelson Phiri has confirmed the arrests identifying the two pharmacists involved as Simon Mwape and Graham Chintu who were arrested on Wednesday last week.

Mr. Phiri says the duo was arrested together with another Congolese businessman identified as John Mukeba whom they were acting together with when they stole and attempted to the sell the drugs.

He explains that the trio approached there would be customer in an attempt to sell him the drugs without knowing that he was the one who supplied the hospital with the drugs in question.

Mr Phiri says Mwape and Kintu have been charged with theft by public servant while Mukeba has been charged with theft.
