Let’s protect ‘the presidency’ – Shimunza

Movement for National Transformation president Daniel Shimunza has observed the need to protect the republican presidency.

The MNT Leader says it is for this reason that he has opposed demands by some individuals for the removal of the presidential immunity from the republican constitution.

Mr. Shimunza says the clause that has to do with the protection of the president during the tender of his office is a very important aspect in that allows the president to do his duties diligently.

He says the current constitution mandates parliament to move a motion in parliament to remove the immunity and if the House wants can impeach the Head of State if he breaches the constitution.

He has since urged the members of the public to focus on other closes of the constitution that need amendment.

Mr. Shimunza has called on the people of Zambia to show maturity in our democracy and not act based on emotions.
