The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) says it is financing over 400 routine maintenance contracts across the country using the money collected from toll FEES.

And the agency is hopeful that it will collect over K845 million from toll fees this year alone.

NRFA Spokesperson Alphonsius Hamachila tells Q News via telephone that the K667 million collected in toll fees last year has been ploughed back into road maintenance, contrary to assertions that the agency is not maintaining roads.

Mr. Hamachila adds that the agency has also entered into a partnership with local authorities under a program called Road Tolling Maintenance Program (RTMP) where councils identify road works that need funding through maintenance.

He has further stated that currently, the agency is collecting toll fees from nine inland tolling points across the country.
