One of the separated Siamese twins who has been connected to oxygen is said to be responding well and showing steady improvement.

Giving an update on the condition of the twins who are still admitted to the University Teaching Hospitals intensive care unit, UTH Public Relations Officer Natalie Mashikolo said Bupe who is still being assisted with her breathing is tolerating feeding through the tubes.

Ms Nashikolo says the other twin, Mapalo who was taken off oxygen the second day after the operation is stable and recovering well.

The twins were separated last Friday at the University Teaching Hospital by a team of 30 local doctors led by surgeon Dr Bruce Bvulani during an operation that lasted 7 hours.

The eight months old twins Mapalo and Bupe from Kawambwa where operated on after spending eight months in the University Teaching Hospital mother and newborn hospital.
