Finance Minister Felix Mutati says government will this year begin preparations for the implementation of the E-voucher early to avoid encountering the same challenges that were faced last year.

Mr Mutati says government will ensure funding for the programme is secured early to ensure effective implementation.

He says government has drawn several lessons from the migration process from conventional FISP to E-voucher and wants to start the implementation process early this year.

Mr Mutati states that the FISP program had a number of challenges which showed that government was not the most competent in procurement and distribution of fertilizer, and therefore in an effort to make an impact in the agriculture sector, government undertook the reform of migrating from FISP to E-voucher.

Mr. Mutati says government will this year strive to minimize on the inconvenience to farmers by commencing the implementation process early.
