CSPR urges govt to start preparing for 2018/2019 farming season

Patrick-NshindanoThe Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has advised the government to ensure it starts preparing for the 2018/2019 farming season early to avoiding some of the challenges encountered during this farming season.

CSPR Executive Director Patrick Nshindano recommends that as a way of allowing farmers to prepare well for the next farming season, it is imperative that activation of the e-voucher cards is done early so that farmers do not panic as the case has this farming season.

He adds that the payment of farmers who might have supplied their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) should be concluded before October to allow farmers make their K400 contribution to the e-voucher on time.

Mr. Nshindano says government should have by now identified all the hiccups to effectively implement the e-voucher system considering that it has been around for some years.

The CSPR Executive Director notes that as long as the government does not deal with these known hiccups, the implementation of the system will remain shambolic.
