The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has disclosed that ZESCO Limited failed a performance review in 2017, scoring below the 75 percent performance benchmark.

ERB Executive Director Langiwe Lungu says the Board has set a 75 performance benchmark in terms of service delivery which power utilities should endeavor to achieve.

Ms. Lungu, however, states that ZESCO fail short of the set benchmark in the last performance assessment.

She says the assessment takes into consideration the infrastructure and third parties that may affect their operations and interrupt constant power supply.

Ms Lungu says the board engaged the power utility to make a commitment to improve its performance, adding that the ERB may take enforcement action if the power utility fails another performance review.
