Lands and Natural Resource Minister Jean Kapata has urged Zambians to stop fighting for small pieces of land in Lusaka and consider acquiring land in newly created Chipili district of Luapula Province.

Ms Kapata, who is Mandevu Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament, has observed that while in Lusaka people are fighting small pieces of land, Chipili Town Council is currently offering over 2,000 plots.

Speaking after visiting Chipili Town Council and touring land where government infrastructure is currently being belt, Ms Kapata says Chipili district presented very good investment opportunity for Zambians.

She says the district has investment opportunities in industries such as hospitality, tourism, agriculture, health and education among others, being a developing district.

And Chieftness Mwenda of Chipili district urged the minister to team up with line ministries and ensure all government projects are completed as soon as possible.

She has observed that almost all government projects in Chipili have gone way beyond scheduled completion period.

The traditional leader has expressed concern that there is high unemployment rate amongst youth in her chiefdom because most government projects have taken too long to be completed thereby making many youth jobless.

Chieftness Mwenda also reminded Ms Kapata that government should build a modern market in the district for women as they had no decent trading place despite the district being new.

Meanwhile, Chipili Town Council chairman Isaac Kafwimbi appealed to Ms Kapata and relevant government departments to help finish government projects as soon as possible.

He has expressed concern that government projects in Chipili have taken long to be completed due to poor performance by most contractors.
