New cholera cases decline to 12

The number of new cholera cases has continued to reduce with 12 cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

Minister of health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya says this is the lowest number of cases the ministry has recorded since the cholera outbreak.

He adds that no death has been recorded in the last 7 days.

He says of the 12 cases, five have been recorded from kanyama, three from John Leigh, two from Chelston, 1 in Kaunda Square and 1 in Chainda .

Dr. Chilufya says this is a huge progress towards ending the epidemic.

He has told journalists during a briefing that the ministry of health will through a multi-sectorial approach maintain vigilance to ensure cholera is completely wiped out.

Meanwhile Hass petroleum Zambia has donated assorted items worth $10,000 towards the fight against the epidemic.

Speaking when he presented the items to dr chilufya, company director gilbert chishimba hailed government’s resilience in fighting cholera.

Hass petroleum is a regional oil marketing company with its presence in zambia and 12 other african countries.
