The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has demanded that Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya becomes more responsive to the cries of the farmers in the country.

UPND Secretary General Steven Katuka says it is regrettable that farmers have suffered a lot under President Edgar Lungu’s leadership.

He says this is clear indication that President Edgar Lungu does not mean well for the farmers.

He started by destroying the agricultural sector when he reduced the floor price of maize to K60 without considering the cost of producing maize.

And Mr. Katuka says the revelation by Patriotic Front Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube that the agriculture sector has collapsed is spot.

He says his statement has also vindicated the party’s initial position on failure by the PF not to only come up with clear economic policies, but to lie to the millions of Zambians on their capacity to deliver.

Mr. Katuka is of the view that this is clear that the PF has never had an agenda on agriculture for this country.
