Political Leaders, including President Edgar Lungu joined Christians around the world in celebrating Christmas with messages of love and harmony for Zambians.
President Edgar Lungu has urged Zambians to restore themselves to common values that define their humanity by reaching out to neighbors, especially those in need, to help make their lives better.
President Lungu says there is no greater good than making the cause of others better.
He says Christmas is not just a festival but a strong point of reflection on the values that Christ himself taught everyone.
The Head of State says there is need to reach out to the indigent of the society and show a spirit of sacrifice and sharing to reach out to those that are unlucky during the season.
He has since urged local and central government authorities to double up their efforts against the cholera outbreak in Lusaka so that it does not spread to other areas.
President Lungu says residents in affected areas especially and those from other neighborhoods must act responsibly by avoiding what may worsen the outbreak.
On the other hand luanshya town has recorded four Christmas babies, who were born in the mining town’s three major health institutions, namely the luanshya mine hospital, roan general hospital and Thomson general hospital.
The first Christmas baby, a girl was born at 05:45 at roan general hospital from Lillian kasalama, a resident of Roan Township, who expressed joy and thanked god for the beautiful baby.
Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda congratulated the parents of the Christmas babies, whom he urged to take good care of the little ones.
The Mayor, who also exchanged pleasantries with the mothers and the hospital staff, said Christmas babies were special and deserved to be shown love apart from being given all the necessary support as future leaders.
Meanwhile siavonga district hospital has recorded 4 ( four ) male Christmas babies, the first baby was born around 01hrs,the second around 02hrs and the last was a set of twins born around 03 hours.
And when presenting gifts to the mothers, Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore kanyama advised parents to take full care and responsibilities on the newly born Christmas babies as they are our future leaders.
Mr. Kanyama also advised mothers to see to it that the newly born Christmas babies sleep under treated mosquito nets all the time, and to make sure that babies attend under 5 medical examinations in their local health posts.
And Mr. Kanyama also advised the siavonga district hospital management to provide treated mosquito nets to the mothers once discharged from the hospital.
And opposition united party for national development vice president for politics Geoffrey Mwamba has urged party officials to show love to one another, forgive their enemies and show tolerance to its opponents especially during this season.
