National Democratic Congress (NDC) Consultant Chishimba Kambwili has charged that the creation of the ministry of housing and Infrastructure development is a conduit for corruption.

Mr. Kambwili alleges that the creation of this ministry has brought more corruption in the procurement of works because all ministries, spending agencies, districts and provincial administrations are no longer procuring any works.

He explains that if for example the ministry of general education wants to construct a classroom block, they have to write to the Ministry of housing and Infrastructure development in Lusaka which is the only ministry tendering inviting tenders for all the construction jobs in the country.

Mr Kambwili has told Journalists in Lusaka that what this entails is that State house wants to be the ones to choose who should get the contract so that they can allegedly get a commission.

He has since called for the disbandment of the ministry of housing and infrastructure development.

And Mr. Kambwili has described the 2017/2018 distribution of farming inputs as a disaster.

He says this is because the e-voucher has been implemented at a wrong time because most farmers in rural areas have no access to banks in order for them to swipe.

He says while the e-voucher system itself is a good programme, government has failed to implement it correctly.

Meanwhile Mr. Kambwili has challenged government to break down all the debt stock the country has accumulated.

Mr. Kambwili says this is because the debt levels Zambia has accumulated is unprecedented.
