Senior Chief Madzimawe of the Ngoni speaking people has called on government to quickly operationalise the alcohol policy which is currently in draft form to help traditional leaders address issues of alcohol abuse in rural communities.
And the traditional leader has been recognized by the Southern Africa Alcohol Policy Alliance (SAAPA) for his contribution towards a healthy and empowered community.
Chief Madzimawe has also been bestowed with the title of SAAPA Eastern chapter patron.
He explains that his role as patron will be to help push for the implementation of the alcohol policy.
The traditional leader states that it is about time that laws and policies were put in place and developed around issues of alcohol abuse, child marriage and other social ills.
