Breast cancer as dangerous in women as in men – MOH

The Ministry of Health has called on media institutions to help raise awareness on breast cancer in men.

Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr. Maximillian Bweupe says breast cancer also occurs in men even though it’s not as common as it is in women.

He says there have been a few cases in Zambia of breast cancer in men, but that it is important to raise awareness as it is as dangerous in men as it is in women.

Dr. Bweupe explains that men equally have breast tissues although in a much lower amount as compared to women.

He says it is therefore wise for men to get screened for breast cancer once faced with symptoms such as non-healing swells, continuous blood discharge, thickening of the skin and pain.
