The Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has encouraged local mine suppliers to up their game, if they are to be largely accommodated in the mines.
KCM Head Corporate Affairs, Mubiana Akakandelwa tells QTV Business News that KCM is among those who have accommodated close to 70 percent of local suppliers.
He however states that the mine has been a bit skeptical with local suppliers because, because it does not want to purchase equipment that is of substandard to delay its output or endanger its workers.
He says the mine has at all times endeavored to buy equipment that is of high quality for improved efficiency.
Mr. Akakandelwa says it is therefore incumbent upon local mine suppliers to come up with quality equipment if they are to win tenders regularly in the mines.
