The young African Leaders’ Initiative (YALI) has appealed to the United Party for National Development (UPND) not to boycott President Edgar Lungu’s address during the ceremonial opening parliament next month.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says the opposition should not stay away from parliament next month considering that there are critical bills that will be presented in parliament next month.

He says boycotting parliament simply robs citizens of proper parliamentary representation

He states that opposition lawmakers should learn from their suspension and attend parliament especially during President Lungu’s address.

Mr. Mwanza has since advised that better avenues of engaging government should be explored whenever the opposition is aggrieved rather than boycotting the Presidential address to parliament.
