ZABS publishes 170 standards between January & August

The Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) says it has published 170 standards between January and August 2017 to support industry in terms of value addition, growth and sustainability.

ZABS Head marketing and public relations Hazel Zulu says most of the additional standards that have been published are focused on providing guidelines, requirements and specifications for various products and processes in the agricultural and leather sectors.

Mrs. Zulu says the published additional standards are also aimed at supporting government’s emphasis on growing the economy through diversification and prioritizing of the agriculture and other sectors other than mining.

She has announced that some of the standards that have been published include standards on maize grain, wheat flour and rice specifications.

Mrs Zulu has since stated that the bureau of standards is optimistic that the added standards if used consistently and effectively will help industry players to develop and process good quality products.
