Re-opening of the Baluba mine cheers LYA Mayor

Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda has commended Government for facilitating the re-opening of the Baluba mine which was put on care and maintenance in 2015 by CNM Luanshya Copper Mine (CLM).

Mr. Chanda is also hopeful that CLM will soon reopen Shaft 28 Underground mine which was closed because of flooding.

He says now that copper prices on the international market are slowly getting back to normal, the local authority expects Luanshya Copper Mine to start getting back to life.

Mr. Chanda is confident that with the attractive Copper prices on the international market, things will change in Luanshya and all the retrenched workers will be called back to work.

Mr. Chanda adds that this will also help boost the economy of Luanshya.
