Declaration of a state of threatened public emergency has dented Zambia’s image- Timo

Finnish Ambassador to Zambia Timo Olkkonen says government’s decision to declare a state of threatened public emergency will have a negative impact on the country’s image.

Mr. Olkkonen says the move will affect Zambia’s image internationally regardless of the justification of the declaration by government.

He says this is especially that foreign media outlets are also not distinguishing between the declaration of a State of emergency and the threatened state of emergency.

Mr Olkkonen notes that this has created a lot of confusion due to lack of information.

He states that while it is government’s responsibility to protect its citizens, the declaration of threatened state of public emergency has raised a lot of uncertainty internationally.
