Luo asked to engage university students on the feasibility of student Unions- PROTUZ

The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has advised Higher Education Minister Nkandu Luo to engage university students on the feasibility of student Unions before any idea of abolishing them off is consider.

PROTUZ general secretary Kangwa Musenga has told Q-News that plans by the Minister to scrap off student unions in the country’s colleges and universities will not resolve the challenges being faced by these institutions.

Mr. Musenga states that students equally have the right to association.

He adds that student unions are serious partners and stakeholders in the development of the education system.

Mr. Musenga says the labor movement is seriously opposed to the scraping off of student unions.
