The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) has challenged the government to give a clear position with regards its engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over a possible bailout package.

ZCSD Executive Director Lewis Mwape has told QTV News that the statement by National Planning and Development Minister Lucky Mulusa that the PF Government is not desperate for the IMF bailout package is obviously raising a lot of questions in the minds of Zambians.

Mr. Mwape says this is especially after President Edgar Lungu on Thursday last week appeared to dare the IMF go if they want.

He says ZCSD is of the understanding that the engagement with the IMF is part of Government’s home grown economic recovery plan dubbed Zambia Plus.

He states that it is therefore important that the government comes out in the open on the matter so that people know what is expected of the IMF engagement.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwape has asked government to disclose the total number of people who have been retired in national interest recently.
