Zambia national team coach Wedson Nyirenda

Zambia national team coach Wedson Nyirenda has included players from Zanaco and Zesco United for this weekend’s African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier, while dropping 10 players from the squad which participated in the Cosafa Castle Cup.

The development was confirmed in a statement to supersport.com on Monday by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Communications Manager Desmond Katongo.

The changes have seen Toaster Nsabata, Taonga Bwembya, Ziyo Tembo, Augustine Mulenga, Ernest Mbewe (all of Zanaco), Fackson Kapumbu, Simon Silwimba, Kondwani Mtonga, John Chin’gandu, Jackson Mwanza and Davy Daka (all of Zesco United) make a return to the squad.

There are also two additions in Clatous Chama of Lusaka Dynamos and Martin Phiri of Power Dynamos.

Those replaced are Chitiya Mususu, Collins Sikombe (both of Napsa Stars), Diamond Chikwekwe, Mike Katiba (both of Green Buffaloes), Mwila Phiri (Green Eagles), Mwansa Nsofwa (Lusaka Dynamos), Webster Mulenga (Red Arrows), Lawrence Chungu (Power Dynamos) and Moses Nyondo (Nkana).

Zambia is scheduled to play Swaziland over two legs next week in Chan second round qualification matches, starting with the away fixture on Sunday, 16 July 2017. The second leg will take place at the National Heroes Stadium on Saturday, 22 July 2017.

Defenders: Taonga Bwembya, Ziyo Tembo (both Zanaco) Donashano Malama (Nkana), Adrian Chama (Green Buffaloes), Solomon Sakala (Napsa Stars), Isaac Shamujompa (Nchanga Rangers), Fackson Kapumbu, Simon Silwimba (Zesco United);

Midfielders: Jack Chirwa (Green Buffaloes), Godfrey Ngwenya (Power Dynamos), Boston Muchindu (Nkana), Kondwani Mtonga, John Chin’gandu (Zesco United), Clatous Chama (Lusaka Dynamos), Augustine Mulenga, Ernest Mbewe (Zanaco);

Strikers: Brian Mwila (Green Buffaloes), Justin Shonga (Nkwanzi), Lubinda Mundia (Red Arrows), Jackson Mwanza, Davy Daka (Zesco United), Martin Phiri (Power Dynamos).
