LWSC completes drilling of boreholes in Chongwe

The Lusaka and Water Sewerage Company says it has completed drilling boreholes with a combined yield of 34 liters per-second to mitigate the perennial yearly drying of Chongwe River.

Company public relations officer Nshamba Muzungu has told Q-NEWS that the water utility will soon embark on the construction of the reservoir and a pipeline which will be fed by the newly drilled boreholes to supply water into Chongwe.

Mr. Muzungu states that the contractor is already on site and working on the pump houses to ensure that construction works are expedited before October the period when Chongwe river usually dries up.

He says that the Chongwe water project which has been funded by the ministry of local government will improve water supply to Chongwe district.
