EIZ to ascertain city market fire damage

The Engineering Institution of Zambia has constituted a team of experts to access the extent of the damage caused by the fire that gutted part of the Lusaka City market on Tuesday last week.

EIZ President George Sitali says the team of experts will then propose to government remedial solutions that will aid in expeditiously restoring the facility to its full functionality in the most effect and efficient manner.

He states that this is in accordance with the mandate of the Institution under the EIZ Act to respond to national emergencies or disasters and recommend appropriate preventive and rehabilitative measures.

Mr Sitali says the efforts of the institution are aimed at complimenting the already existing efforts by government.

Mr Sitali states that the expert report will be availed to stakeholders once the exercise is concluded.
