Management boards appointed for Lusaka

LOCAL Government Minister Vincent Mwale has announced that his ministry has decided to appoint each of the seven constituencies in Lusaka into a management board to be overseen by the Lusaka city council.

Mr Mwale says this is aimed VINCENT Mat enhancing service provision efficiently and effectively in local authorities.

Mr Mwale has told parliament in a ministerial statement that the management boards will become operational in January 2018 on a pilot basis before being rolled out to Kitwe and Ndola city councils after evaluating the performance of the boards under Lusaka city council.

He says the management boards will devise the management and financing arrangements to match the demand for services.

He adds that the management boards will replicate all the services offered by the Lusaka city council at their local levels.

Mr Mwale explains that management boards will be operating at local level providing all services with a fully fledged management synonymous with the one at the Lusaka city council.

He says the measures being undertaken are provided for under section 3 of the local government Act Cap 281 of the laws of Zambia.
