ZESCO UNITED FC 2017

The Confederation of African Football CAF has cancelled the CAF confederation Cup game between ZESCO United and Al Hilal El Obied of Sudan which was scheduled to be played on Sunday, 9th July,2017 at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

This follows the ban slapped on the Sudanese Football Association by world football governing body Fifa.

ZESCO United media relations officer Katebe Chongo says the club has received communication from CAF acting General Secretary Essam Ahmed advising that the match has been cancelled in view of the Fifa ban on the Sudanese FA.

Chengo says the CAF acting General Secretary has explained in his letter that as a result of the ban, El Hilal El Obied is not allowed to participate in CAF matches and is therefore disqualified from CAF interclub competitions.

She says CAF will determine the final situation of group C, with ZESCO tipped to qualify to the quarter finals.

Chengo has since appealed to fans who bought pre-sale tickets for the match to visit the club’s secretariat for their refunds.

The other Group C match between Smouha and CRD du Libolo will take place as scheduled on Sunday.
