The Economic Liberation Movement (ELA) has advised government to channel resources to key priority areas in view of the current economic challenges the country is facing.

ELA General Secretary Mainda Simataa says during this period of economic challenges, it is prudent that the government carefully allocates resources and avoids wastage.

Mr. Simataa says projects such as the construction of the new State House should not be on government’s agenda, but rather resources should be channeled towards the energy and agriculture sectors.

He notes that sectors such health, energy, agriculture and mining need serious attention, and that the US$20 million earmarked for the construction of the new State house can be channeled to key areas.

Mr. Simataa has also noted the need for the 2018 National Budget to be a pro-poor budget.
