FDD opposes construction of new State House

The opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) says the revelation by the Government to construct a new State House is yet another testimony on how the PF Government’s priorities are upside down.

FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza says it is absurd for the PF Government to think of constructing a US$20 million new State House when the country’s economy is bleeding.

Mr. Mwanza, who is also FDD Deputy National Secretary, says the US$20 million can be injected in Zambia’s key and productive sectors such as agriculture, energy, construction and other sectors.

He says it is strange that the PF Government has prioritized the construction of the new State House when civil servants are finding it difficult to survive as most of them do not even have proper accommodation.

Mr. Mwanza says it is important that the government cancels this plan and attend to pressing issues such as boosting the country’s economy.
