Seychelles might be out of the reckoning in the Cosafa Castle Cup after two successive defeats in Group B but have no intention of lying down in their final game against Zimbabwe at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Friday.

“We will go hard to try and get a result,” insisted their coach Rodney Choisy, newly appointed at the helm of the side and still trying to gel together his new-look team.

“We want to play as if we are still in the running. Because we are an island we do not get many chances to organise friendlies and this Cosafa Castle Cup has been a great opportunity for us to play competitive international games.

“It is great for us to play against a tough opponent like Zimbabwe in in order to gain experience. We’ll be looking for a good result.”

The islanders have lost in their last two tournaments to Zimbabwe with a 0-6 goal aggregate and will be heading home early again after Friday’s game, having already been eliminated after defeats to Madagascar and Mozambique.

“We only had two days to prepare and this team is still young. I think if we continue to work as a team we have a future. We need to get as much exposure as we can, especially as we are in the same African Nations Cup qualifying group as Nigeria and South Africa,” Choisy added.
