Zanaco, Zesco sneak into top four

Zanaco-player-2-300MTN FAZ Super League champions Zanaco moved up to third on the standings following a 2-0 victory over Kabwe Warriors in a week 14 match played at the National Heroes Stadium on Sunday.

Boyd Musonda gave them the lead on 40 minutes with a ferocious effort at the top of the box and goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata increased their advantage on the stroke of half time, when he converted a penalty on the stroke of half time.

The bankers finished the match with nine men after Augustine Mulenga and Chongo Chirwa were sent off in the second half. Mulenga was given a straight red card for retaliation on Alfred Chirwa in the 64th minute while Chirwa was sent off for two bookable offences after he received yellow cards in the 28th and 81st minutes.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga was lucky not to be sent off, escaping with a yellow card and conceding a penalty in the process for unsporting behaviour, when he was spotted intentionally poking the ball into the face of Zanaco forward Adamson Mulawo just before half time.

The victory pushed Zanaco to 22 points, level with Zesco United in fourth and Green Buffaloes in fifth, who defeated Nkwazi and Power Dynamos, 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.
