Police to investigate women abusing fellow woman in ‘viral video’

The Zambia Police Service has appealed to members of the public who could be able to identify some people in a video that has gone viral in which a woman is seen being humiliated, undressed, dragged and being beaten by fellow women.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says this will help the police with the information.

Ms Katongo says it is sad to note that women captured in the video mercilessly took turns in beating the defenseless woman on allegations that she was a prostitute.

She says such acts are inhuman, degrading and constitute a crime.

Ms Katongo says anyone with information that will help in apprehending the perpetrators should quickly inform police officers at any nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Advocacy against Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence Executive Director Bellion Chola says it is very shameful to see women stripe off their fellow woman saying this is an insult to the womanhood.

Mr. Chola has since called on the police to ensure that they bring perpetrators of this inhuman act are brought to book.
