The National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) says it will not be distracted from its agenda of speaking for the teachers in the country.

And the union is calling on some media outlets more especially online media, to only communicate factual and verified information.

NUPPEZ’s comment comes after some online media reports indicating that the union will not hesitate to recommend the firing of some teachers who are issuing disparaging remarks against the union.

NUPPEZ Public Relations Officer Ngoza Malonga is specifically calling on the media to always ensure that they verify facts before publishing any information in various media outlets.

Ms Malonga has told QFM News that the information published in Zambian Teachers Newspaper and Zambian Teachers Watchdog alleging that the union has asked Teaching Service Commission Chairperson Stanley M’hango who is past NUPPEZ President  to fire teachers opposing the union is not true.

She says the union has no mandate and power to fire any teacher but that its role is to firmly represent its members on many issues affecting them.
