Electoral expert MacDonald Chipenzi has advised government to start funding the electoral commission of Zambia now so that they can take up and start implementing some of the recommendations given by the international observer missions during the august 11 elections on how the country can better the process of conducting elections.
Speaking to Q news in an interview, Mr. Chipenzi has observed that the electoral commission of Zambia does not have the funds required to implement some of the recommendations given by the observer missions such as the European Union for the smooth process of the electoral process.
Mr. Chipenzi has stated that it will wise and beneficial for the ECZ to start preparing for the smooth process of the 2021 elections now so as to avoid the inefficiencies and misunderstandings that have characterized the august 11 elections up to now.
He has explained that one of the ways the ECZ will address the challenges experienced during elections is by picking up the recommendations by the observer missions that take part in the country’s elections.
