ZNUT oppose introduction of exams before entry into college, university

The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has opposed Higher Education Minister Professor Nkandu Luo’s intentions to introduce entrance examinations for students before they can be admitted in colleges and Universities.

Union President Newman Bubala says government should learn to trust and respect the structures that exist in the education sector.

Mr. Bubala has told QTV News that the results that are announced at Secondary level qualify as per requirement for one to enter into college or university.

He says the examination system for Grade 12 determines that one can enter a university or college depending on their results.

Mr. Bubala says there is no need to introduce another exam stating that if one has proved themselves the results they obtain can make them enter into university.

And Mr. Bubala has advised government to tackle the inflows in the education sector as opposed to introducing another examination.
