Chipata District Commissioner Kalunga Zulu has warned that Government will not take kindly to illegal transactions in the procurement of maize for the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) during this maize marketing season.

Mr. Zulu says those that have been given an opportunity to procure and secure the crop on behalf of Government should resist temptations to commit fraud or other forms of corruption which have been associated with maize marketing in Chipata and Mambwe districts.

He adds that Government is also implementing measures to ensure transparency and timely allocation of inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

Mr. Kalunga states that the staff that will be trained will be deployed to 13 satellite depots in Chipata and three deports in Mambwe, designated as collection points for maize from small holder farmers in the two districts during the 2017 marketing season.
