Economic and Equity Party President Chilufya Tayali has observed that the more President Edgar Lungu continues to insist that there is no tension in the country the more it is being fuelled.

Mr Tayali says the tension in the country may explode like a volcano.

He says the happenings in the country from the time the election results of 2016 were announced; through to the time the Constitutional Court threw out the UPND presidential petition up to the arrest of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema on a treason charge have all led to building up of tension in the country.

Mr Tayali says President Lungu needs to recognize what is so apparent, otherwise, it will be difficult for others to recognize him as President.

He says President Lungu should know that he has the primary responsibility of keeping peace in the Country, in a natural way other than through the use of force, victimization, arbitrary arrests and other forms of intimidation to instill fear in people.

Mr Tayali states that the president has a duty to defuse the tension caused by what he has described as UPND tantrums.
