MPs urged to refine constitution

Constitutional Making Expert Simon Kabanda

Constitution making expert Simon Kabanda has advised parliamentarians to concentrate on refining the constitution instead of making substantive amendments.

Mr. Kabanda told Q news in an interview that that the 2016 amended constitution is incomplete, and can only be complete after a successful referendum is held.

He has stated that there is need to work towards having a referendum so that the country can have a complete constitution.

Mr Kabanda has urged the parliamentarians to work out inconsistencies and ambiguities in the constitution for now

Meanwhile, Mr. Kabanda is hopeful that the freedom of information bill will be tabled in the current sitting of parliament.

He has noted with deep concern that the bill has been dragging for 15 years since 2002.
