Lungu calls for AU reform

 

EL with KagamePresident Edgar Lungu says there is need for African countries to work closely to reform the African Union to make it more responsive to present and future challenges.

Speaking last evening at a state dinner hosted in honour of the visiting President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, President Lungu said Zambia will cooperate fully in these important discussions, which will definitely yield vital recommendations to reform the African Union.

President Lungu also noted Mr Kagame’s leadership on the issue.

And President Lungu has described Rwanda as a shining example on the African continent of the benefits that can be accrued through embracing technology and its incorporation in all aspects of national development to build capacity, and make programmes more efficient and effective.

He notes that Rwanda has made extraordinary advances in the world of information technology and renewable energy, particularly solar energy.

President Lungu says he looks forward to experts from the two countries sharing best practices in these fields, under the auspices of the Zambia-Rwanda joint permanent commission of cooperation (JPC).
