‘The Church’ urged to be neutral

Four Political Parties have condemned calls by the three church mother bodies calling for the release of incarcerated United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema.

The four political parties include Christian Congress Party, Zambia Republican Party, New Congress Party and Citizens Democratic Party.

Christian Congress Party President Dr. Danny Pule says the church is supposed to unite the country than siding with political parties whenever they do something wrong.

Dr. Pule says the church’s role is to unite in prayer and promote peace in the country as opposed to siding with politicians.

Speaking at the same event, Zambia Republican Party Leader Wright Musoma has accused Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops President Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu of using the three mother bodies for his hidden agendas.

And New Congress Party Leader Pastor Peter Chanda says the churches in the country are compromised as evidence from the mother bodies who are calling for the release of the incarcerated UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema from maximum security prison.

Meanwhile Citizens Democratic Party Leader Robert Mwanza says it is sad to see the three mother bodies in the country label the country as a dictatorship.
