Real Madrid want £174.5million for Manchester United transfer target Cristiano Ronaldo

cristiano_ronaldo5_afpReal Madrid will demand an astonishing €200million – approximately £174.5m – for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Widespread reports on Friday claimed Ronaldo had made the ‘irreversible’ decision to leave the Bernabeu following his charge of tax fraud in Spain.

The motives behind his desire to leave the club, where he’s won three Champions League titles, are yet to be revealed but the news is of huge interest to former club Manchester United.

Despite their differences, Jose Mourinho would love to be reunited with Ronaldo at the Theatre of Dreams and United are one of just a handful of realistic options should he force through his departure.

Madrid, however, are trying to remain calm about Ronaldo’s decision and have slapped a deterring £175.4m price tag on the forward, according to Marca.

The club do not wish to sell Ronaldo but Marca claim they will listen to offers in the region of their valuation.

Los Blancos paid a then-world record fee of £80m in cash to United for Ronaldo in 2009 and only two players have been sold for more since.

United are highly unlikely to entertain any negotiations with Madrid unless they severely lowered their asking price or there was enough suggestion from Ronaldo’s side that he wanted to return.

The 31-year-old has four years to run on his deal at the Bernabeu.
