Zambia vs MozambiqueThe Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it incurred a loss of K346,308.00 from the Africa Cup qualifier game between Zambia and Mozambique played on June 10 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

Zambia lost the match by a goal to nil.

FAZ Communications Manager Desmond Katongo says the association generated a total income of K350,750.00 from the match against a total expenditure of K678,058.

Katongo says the loss in revenue has been attributed to a low turnout by fans.

Sports Minister Moses Mawere says government has left it to FAZ and the technical team to decide whether the Zambia Under-20 National Soccer Team should be graduated to the senior national team in the wake of the poor performance of the senior team.

Mawere has told parliament in a ministerial statement that the government cannot decide on this matter, but has left it to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to decide.

And the Minister has observed the need for concerted efforts from all stakeholders in the identification and promotion of talent amongst youths in the country.

He says government will continue providing policies aimed at bringing about development through sport especially among the majority youth.

Mawere says investment in infrastructure such as the construction of ultra modern stadia will be highly encouraged to attract more young people to play football and engage in other sport at professional level.
