The Timber Producers Association of Zambia (TPAZ) has appealed to government to rescind the decision to ban the export of timber.

Yesterday, Lands Minister Jean Kapata announced the ban on the export of all types of timber.

But TPAZ Vice President Charles Masange feels this decision will rob the nation the much needed revenue from timber export.

Mr. Masange has told QTV News in an interview that it is very clear that the Minister of Lands, her Permanent Secretary, and directors have failed to run the ministry as seen from their abrupt decisions.

He says that while Zambia has been yearning to raise enough revenues from exports, the ministry is closing the very doors the country can use to earn more foreign exchange.

Mr. Masange says it is unfair that timber producers in the country have been pushed left, right and center with decisions that are not helping them grow.
