Govt to set up 130MW wind power plant in Serenje

Energy Minister David Mabumba says government is in the process of setting up a 130 Megawatts wind power plant in Serenje.

Mr. Mabumba says the 130 megawatt wind plant will be financed by the American government.

He has stated that government in collaboration with the private sector and the international community is exploring all avenues that will diversify the energy sector from dependency on hydroelectricity.

He says the setting up of the wind plant is also in line with government’s 2030 vision to become a major exporter of power in the region.

Mr. Mabumba states that government is working on creating a conducive and enabling environment for investors in the energy sector through putting up friendly policies and regulations.
